  • nokia82.jpgNokia’s latest model in the N-Series mobile is definitely a multimedia device in the true sense of the word multimedia. It can match up with a decent digital point-and-shoot camera, a mobile computer, and a GPS device. These features were so highlighted that it would seem Nokia may have forgotten to include mobile features in the Nokia N82. Fortunately, the N82 doesn’t fall short of the most latest Nokia mobile phone in terms of features and functionalities.

    N82 as a digital camera

Equipped with a 5.0 megapixel camera, Xenon flash and Carl Zeiss optics, who would have at first that the N82 is actually a mobile phone? Those features are enough to give the most decent digital point-and-shoot a camera a fierce competition.

“With the Nokia N82 we have reached such a superior level in image quality, speed and ease of use that not only does it outperform any other cameraphone on the market, but it’s also a very credible alternative for single purpose digital still cameras,” says Satu Ehrnrooth, head of Nokia Nseries Cameras Category, Multimedia, Nokia.

    N82 as a GPS device

Pre-installed with A-GPS and Nokia Maps, the N82 will give you access to new places whether in another country or just around the corner. Directional navigations are preloaded with free voice guided navigational trial with an option to extend it farther by purchasing additional features such as city guides and longer subscription to the navigation. What’s more you can even send excerpts of maps and routes to friends via MMS. Nothing can be more nifty than that.

N82 as a multimedia computer device

Responding to the sign of times in terms of connectivity features, the N82 boosts of high speed Wi-Fi connectivity which facilitates one-click upload to online communities. You can upload pictures or videos even when using the device for other purposes. The upload just runs in the background and won’t even bother you while making a call. The N82 also comes with a new content driven 3D multimedia menu and includes a convenient orientation sensor that rotates the user interface automatically either horizontally or in portrait mode. The N82 also supports Nokia’s internet services such as Ovi, Nokia Music Store, N-Gage games and Nokia Maps.

    N82 is a mobile phone

Lest we forget, the N82 is a mobile phone and as such expect to have the usual mobile phone features that you find in other N-Series mobile phones. But of course, the N82 beats them all with the mentioned features above.

The N82 carries a price tag of around 450 euros, just do the math how much it will sell when it comes to the US market.

  • etenx600.jpgGlofiish X600 is E-TEN’s latest mobile device in its stellar line up of pocket PC phone. The X600 boosts of a new level of convenience and affordability in a small sized pocket PC phone that measures only a mere 107 x 58 x 14.7 mm. But don’t underestimate the phone’s functionalities as it certainly doesn’t measure up to its power packed features.

The X600 could give you mobile connectivity power with its connectivity features such as:

    • Windows MobileR 6 – the latest mobile platform that supports software applications that includes office productivity, dictionary and language utilities as well as travel, finance, games and many other mobile application features,

    • GPS – the X600 provides easy and precise navigation whether on foot or in a vehicle with its SiRF Star III technology,

    • Wi-FiR connectivity – lets you connect high-speed to your office or home network and in any other public wi-fi hotspots,

    • BluetoothR 2.0 – allows you to connect wirelessly to a headset and other Bluetooth enabled accessories.

Aside from these connectivity features, the X600 is also a multifunctional mobile device that lets you do other things such as take photos with its built-in 2.0 megapixel camera that produces up to 1600 x 1200 resolution images. Images and photos can be displayed excellently on its 2.8” TFT LCD.

The X600 comes with a bult-in 128 MB flash ROM and 64 MB processor. For storage space, the mobile phone comes with a slot for additional microSD card. So you don’t have worry about storage space for your business and leisure files and documents.

To be released sometime in November, the X600 comes in stylish metallic black and red design. But since the device belongs to the pocket PC phone line of product, it will not by no means functions as a multimedia player. Would have been better if it actually has some multimedia features as well. But nonetheless, E-TEN X600 looks promisingand could very well make some headway once it becomes available.

  • hop-on-working-on-hop1883-cell-phone-with-gps.jpgHop-on, a leading wireless phone developer which was known to have produced the first disposable cell phone is working on a new GSM model phone, the Hop1883. This new model promises to be a great addition to Hop-on’s line of cellular devices, extending its innovativeness further by including GPS capability.

With a full color screen, long battery life, gaming capabilities and a 2.0 megapixel camera, the Hop1883 is equipped with a SiRF StarIII chipset that makes the device a good tracking tool for both children and elderly adults. For instance, if your child is lost, you can easily send an SMS message that would ping your child’s Hop1883 and let you locate your child. You can also use the device when tracking your teenage children or elderly relatives. By pinging their phones, Hop 1883’s GPS technology will pinpoint their location to you.

Hop 1883 is a tri-band phone which will work on 900/1800/1900 MHz. Its lightweight candy bar design would be very appealing to children and teenage kids. Like with the other Hop-on mobile phones, the Hop1883 has the major features of a fully functional mobile phone. This feature includes:

    • 2.0 megapixel camera
    • 2.8” x 320” resolution QVGA LCD
    • Predictive text input,
    • SMS messaging,
    • Vibration call alert,
    • 250 phone entry book,
    • Availability in languages, English, Spanish, Portuguese, French or German

And in keeping up with today’s mobile phone standards, Hop1883 has a 262k color screen with touch screen capabilities that also recognizes handwriting. It would have been better if Hop-on will extend its feature further and include 3G capability and Wi-Fi for internet connectivity. But then, it wouldn’t be that affordable if Hop-on will those features to the Hop1883.

Hop1883 would be a good entry-level mobile phone that would answer today’s mobile phone needs of the younger consumers while at the same time, helping parents to better monitor the whereabouts of their children.
